Pretreats

Building a home is a big investment and we know that you want to take the right steps to protect that investment. Most lending agencies require a termite pretreatment for new builds.

A pretreat is an insecticide treatment applied by a professional at specific points in the construction process. There are two parts to a termite pretreatment. The first treatment is applied early during the building process, and the follow up treatment is applied after the construction and landscaping is finished.

We offer an annual contract with your pretreatment. Contracts can vary company to company. A termite contract states what type of contract you have (ex. damage – meaning any repair cost due to termites is covered, or service – meaning any re-treatment is covered where termites are found) and states your annual renewal fee. An inspection is done yearly around the time of renewal.

     Be an informed homeowner.

  • YOU can request which company you want to provide your pretreatment
  • Pretreatments typically call for 100 gallons per 1,000 sq. ft. We strive to treat accordingly
  • Make sure all wooden form boards and stakes are completely removed after construction, not just broken off at the top
  • Don’t leave firewood or other scraps next to your house
  • Make sure crawl spaces are ventilated and well drained to avoid moisture problems
  • Remember to pretreat any additions to your home in the future
  • Type of insulation. More pest companies are voiding/excluding areas and homes from warranties that have spray foam insulation due to not being able to properly inspect those areas
